SOCCER TOT SATURDAYS HAVE ARRIVED
Welcome to PV Rec’s 2nd Soccer Tot season! Soccer tots is the cutest thing to happen to PV Rec Soccer since...well...we don’t really know BUT we do know that these Littles are ready for some BIG fun! We are looking forward to getting those little feet out there for some soccer fun but before we do, we want to take some time to go over a few important things in regards to this very unique soccer season...
Remember that Soccer Tots is a “mommy and me” style program. This means that each Tot must be accompanied by a supervising adult (Grandma, Grandpa, Aunt, Uncle, Mom, Dad etc). Each Tot and their adult buddy will be guided through skills and soccer related activities for a portion of the session. Then, after the structured portion of the session, Tots and their buddy will have free time to revisit skills/elements or just have soccer fun with friends.
We understand that, at this age, attention spans can range from one minute to the entire 45 minutes so we will all just go with the flow. Soccer Tots is a special sort of chaos...a happy, joyous and sometimes crying chaotic place!
Items that will make your soccer tot experience the best it can be…size 3 soccer ball (we will have some at the field but your own ball is best), shin guards, water bottle and hand sanitizer. Please label all personal belongings with a permanent marker as many players have equipment that looks similar/identical.
Face masks are required for all persons age 2 and older in all common places. Common places include the parking lot, the portable bathroom area, the playground, the team sideline and anywhere where physical distancing cannot be practiced. Tots may remove face masks after they are checked in and while they are participating in physical activity. Since tots have little regard for physical distancing, we ask that accompanying adults keep their masks on during the session. Spectators may remove face masks once they have settled in the spot where they will be watching the game from and as long as 6 foot physical distancing is able to be maintained.
There will be a wellness screening every week for every tot and their accompanying adult. Wellness screenings consist of a touch-less temperature check (any temp over 99.5 will need a recheck after a few minutes). A series of three questions will be asked...Does the player/volunteer have a temp above 99.5? Is player/volunteer healthy for physical activity? Has the player/volunteer been in contact with a Covid+ person or someone who is waiting for test results?
In a normal year, we would encourage as many family members to attend sessions as possible. We understand that spectators are a very important part of sports, however, this year we ask that only 2 adult spectators per player attend a soccer tot session. This rule is not meant to include younger/older siblings of the participating tot. This new rule will allow PV Rec to operate within the NY and Dutchess County guidelines for spectators attending youth sporting events.
Please remember to clean up after yourselves at the field. The school has been seeing many water bottles, face masks and gloves lying around that do not quite make it to the garbage can. PV Rec is granted the privilege of using the school fields so let’s take good care of them!
We all love our furry friends but it is posted at the fields that dogs are not permitted at the school fields. Please PLEASE leave your four-legged family members at home.
There are four Soccer Tot Saturdays this October and we have chosen themes to get the tots in the mood for FUN…
10/3 is Silly Socks...wear some colorful socks over your shin guards/pants!
10/17 is Twin Day...Littles and BIGS dress up like TWINS!
10/24 is Crazy Hat day...wear your favorite cap, hat or funky head covering!
10/31 is Spooky Soccer...wear a costume or makeup and have some festive Halloween fun! (props such as wings, masks or handheld accessories will need to be left at the sideline during activities)
**Please note that even though there is regular rec soccer on 10/10/2020, there is no Soccer Tots this weekend**
With all of this being said, we wish all the Tots and their Bigs a happy and safe Soccer Tot season!
