Learn from one of the top local high school officials about improving the relationship between coaches, players and officials. Also rules that should be emphasized to make the game better.

Coaches Bios
  • Mark Hurley – longtime local official in Dutchess County. Mark has become one of the most respected high school officials. He will provide his knowledge on positive communications between officials, players, coaches and parents. Mark will communicate the newest points of emphasis that officials will be looking at during games.
  • Terry Feeley – John Jay HS Varsity Boys Basketball Coach. He is one of the most respected high school coaches in New York State. He is currently the President of the Dutchess County Basketball Coaches Association. Terry has won over 300 high school contests and is teams during his tenure at Spackenkill High School won multiple Section 9 Championships. Coach Feeley will present teaching points for coaches to use in practice to help young players to improve.
  • Jim Santoro – Our Lady of Lourdes HS Boys Varsity Coach. Jim Santoro is one of the best coaches our area has produced. He has won over 300 basketball games and two Section 1 Championships. Most recently his Warriors earned a spot in the NYS Final Four and were the Class A runners up. Coach Santoro is also one of the best teachers of shooting the basketball in NYS. He will be presenting on the best techniques for shooting.
  • Brian Laffin – Is the director of the "Coach Laffin Skills and Drills Basketball Camp." Most known for his tenure as the Poughkeepsie Boys Varsity will cover making the most of your practice time and organizing a great youth level practice. Coach Laffin has over 300 wins between is time at Poughkeepsie and Dutchess CC. He is currently a Board Member for the Basketball Coaches Association of New York.

  • 6:00-6:10 Sam Thomison – welcome Pleasant Valley Basketball Director
  • 6:10-6:50 William Thom - Shooting the basketball, good habits on offense, shooting drills for practice
  • 6:50-7:20 Tom O’Neil – Communication between coaches, players and officials. Rules & emphasis from the high school level that youth coaches should know to make your players better
  • 7:20-7:25 Break
  • 7:25-8:05 Matt Hoyt – Drills to build your offense, spacing & movement, the foundations Arlington HS Motion Offense
  • 8:05-8:45 Brian Laffin – Teaching Man to Man Defense, ball pressure, talking on D, Psychology of Coaching, getting kids to play team defense
  • 8:45-9:00 Question/Answer Session
